IMPACT OF AN ELASTIC TRUNCATED CONICAL SHELL

Abstract

The problem considered is the effect of the impact of an elastic, semi-infinite, truncated conical shell, moving with axial velocity V sub o toward a rigid obstacle. The interaction of shell and obstacle will produce an axially symmetric pressure signal which is to be determined. Based on the experience in the case of the cylindrical shell (AD-255 869), the present paper will use again a Laplace transform approach and restrict itself to the determination of the contributions to the inversion integral due to small and large values, respectively, of the transform parameter.
