SATELLITE MATERIALS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEMS INVESTIGATIONS

Abstract

Spectral reflectances of approximately 30 different surfaces were measured. The computed solar absorptances are reported. The variation of the spectral reflectance and hence, the solar absorptance with the angle of incidence is presented for three specific types of materials. However, the major portion of the results were measured at an an angle of incidence of 15 degrees from the normal to the surface. The results of measurements of the uniformity of the energy distribution over the image plane of the solar simulator constructed in this laboratory are given, and a suggested modification is described.
