THE PROBABLE FALLOUT THREAT OVER THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES

Abstract

The purpose of this report is first to present in detail, a basis of selection and development of the four major inputs required for a countrywide fallout analysis. These inputs are: Target selection, Weapon criteria, Wind conditions, and Fallout model. Secondly, two techniques are presented for combining the fallout levels from different weapons in a multi-weapon attack where significant overlap of the contours exists. And, finally, the probable fallout threat from both a military and a combined military and industrial attack on the U. S. is developed and analyzed for two characteristic seasonal wind conditions.
