STANDARDIZED MACHINE TOOL DEVICES

Abstract

Experimental and small series manufacture is successfully employing so-called universal-assembling devices (USP). The structure of USP is assembled from ready made, geometrically simple, interchangeable, universal elements (parts and units) manufactured from a high quality material, with greater precision and with high degree of surface purity. Assembled contrivances are put to use, then disassembled and the very same elements are then used in the assembly of new structures. The number of needed USP parts may vary depending upon the nature of manufacture, from several hundreds to several thousands. The assembly of the equipment takes up an average of 2 - 5 hours (depending upon the complexity of the attachments). (Author)
