THE PRODUCTION OF STEEL AND CASTINGS UNDER VACUUM
Abstract
The use of vacuum in casting and pouring of metal is the most reliable and radical method of obtaining a sound and a close-grained metal for ingots and castings. The vacuum casting and pouring of steel provides the following: (1) a thorough reduction of the metal with a simultaneousACTIVE DECARBONIZATION; (2) a considerable decrease in the gas saturation of steel; and (3) a precise composition of metal.
