A PROBLEM CONCERNING THE NI3CR COMPOUND

Abstract

Research was conducted on a solid Ni solution of the Ni-Cr system by microstructural analysis, electric resistance, dilatometry, and X-ray and phase analysis methods. The structure of all examined alloys after hardening and etching represented a homogenous solid Ni solution in which an increase in Cr content increased the hardness and electrical resistance. All the alloys except one with 35 at-% Cr fell into an area of a solid Ni solution at all temperatures. The composition diagram indicated an increased drop in electric resistance of alloys of 20 to 30 at-% Cr in proportion to time. A decrease in electric resistance of alloys was also noted in the interval of conversion temperature.
