LAMINAR HEAT TRANSFER TO THE MOST WINDWARD RAY OF A 15 DEGREE SPHERICALLY BLUNTED CONE AT ANGLE OF ATTACK

Abstract

For the case of a spherically blunted 15 degree half angle cone, it was shown that quite satisfactory prediction of the heat transfer to the most windward ray of the cone at angle of attack may be obtained using approximate form of the solution for the heat transfer to the stagnation line of a yawed cylinder. For the body considered, the applicability of the approximation extends from (a) equal 5 degrees to (a) equal 50 degrees. At zero angle of attack, the approximation may be improved by using the local values of the surface pressure.
