CRACK PROBLEMS IN THE MATHEMATICAL THEORY OF ELASTICITY

Abstract

The topic of main interest is the calculation of the stress field in the vicinity of a crack (or cracks) in a homogeneous isotropic solid. The principal methods available for the solution of such problems are treated. Problems in aelotropic bodies are not considered, nor are the physical implications of the results of the calculations.
