Summary Report, 31 August 1960.

Abstract

Equipment and methods for counting condensation nuclei and for measuring their size have been perfected. The relative photo-electric nucleus counter has been calibrated under laboratory conditions by means of the absolute stereophotographic nucleus counter. The influence of pressure and temperature on the counting of nuclei has been studied. The effect of various processes taking place in the fog of a photoelectric counter during its operation has been studied. The properties of atmospheric freezing and sea-salt nuclei have been investigated under maritime conditions at the west coast of Ireland. (Author)
