STUDY OF THE COMPOSITION OF THE LIGHT FRACTIONS OF SOVIET CRUDES (ISSLEDOVANIYE SOSTAVA LEGKIKH FRAKTSIY SOVETSKIKH NEFTY)

Abstract

A survey of the principal work on analysis of the light fractions of USSR crudes is presented. In connection with USSR development of the construction of aircraft and automobile engines and expansion of the chemical industry, it became necessary to make detailed studies of the hydrocarbon composition of the benzene-kerosene fractions of petroleum. The study of the structure and properties of the hydrocarbons contained in petroleum fractions and petroleum products is necessary for the selection and development of fuels. To solve the problem of the extraction of petroleum, it is essential to deepen and broaden the experimental data on the nature, concentration, and structure of the hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon components, and of the organosulfur, nitrogenous, and oxygenous compounds entering into the composition of petroleum.
