PROSPECTS OF THE REALIZATION OF RADIATION CHEMICAL PROCESSES IN THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY

Abstract

A discussion is presented on those action features of radiation which make them different from the action of other agents and which are of interest to chemical technology. Some of the processes initiated by radiation include: (1) polymerization of ethylene in gas-phase and in organic solvents; (2) emulsion and bulk polymerization of styrene; (3) vulcanization of tire casings; (4) vulcanization of polyethylene; (5) oxidation of benzene; (6) chain oxidation of benzene; (7) oxidation of ethylene and nitrogen; (8) decomposition of CO2; and (9) many reactions of organic synthesis.
