INTERFERENCE MICROSCOPY OF CRYSTALLINE HIGH POLYMERS. DETERMINATION OF THE THICKNESS OF SINGLE CRYSTALS

Abstract

The quantitative analysis of single crystals of polyethylene with the two beam interference microscope has been described. The thickness of single crystals formed at 87 C is 101 angstroms. The variation thickness is equal or less than 6 angstroms. A general pattern of growth is discussed. (Author)
