EQUIPERCENTILE CONVERSIONS AS A FUNCTION OF TRAINING IN A TECHNICAL CURRICULUM

Abstract

This study examines the effect of training differences on scaling new forms of personnel tests for equivalence to previous forms. Three classes of a technical high school were given the test against which Air Force classification tests have been scaled, the General Classification Test. In addition, they took a recent form of the Airman Classification Battery. The ability range of these students corresponded closely to that of the airman population, showing that findings from these samples can be generalized to the Air Force input. Differences between sophomores and seniors in equipercentile conversion tables for the aptitude indexes reflected the emphasis in this high school on mechanical training. This was interpreted as a joint effect of the nature of the tests and the nature of this particular high school curriculum. (Author)
