STUDY OF HEAVY PELLET M52A3B1 ELECTRIC PRIMERS

Abstract

A test program was conducted to determine what effect heavy weight pellets in M52A3B1 electric primers would have on the pressure level of 20mm M55 Ball ammunition loaded with WC 870 ball propellant. The normal pellet weight selected was 2.75 gr. and the heavy pellet weight was 3.00 gr. No significant difference in pressure levels was observed for the pellet weight difference considered.
