HIGH POWER MICROWAVE FERRITES AND DEVICES

Abstract

This report includes: SPIN-WAVE SPECTROSCOPY, by Ernst Schlomann. 13 Mar 61. 19p. incl. illus. (Technical memo. no. T-279) (Contracts DA 36-039-sc-85372 and AF 19(604)7297)A theory was developed for the behavior of magnetic materials under parallel pumping at power levels beyond the critical power level. Microwave loss in the region from zero magnetic field to resonance was studied in a number of ferrites and garnets. The frequency-dependence of nonlinear phenomena in the below-resonance region was investigated. It was shown theoretically that spin waves of short wavelength can be generated by means of an essentially uniform rf magnetic field if the internal dc magnetic field is nonuniform in a suitable way. A new method of generating spin waves is proposed. (Author)
