SCHWARZ'S ALTERNATING METHOD FOR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS OF THE THIRD KIND

Abstract

This analysis is concerned with the numerical investigation of the solution of a mixture of first and third kind boundary value problems of the Laplace equation in domains which are the union of two rectangles. Usually the solution is evaluated by finite difference methods. To avoid this method one may use Schwarz'sALTERNATING METHOD. The Dirichlet problem is treated in this way, though rigorous error estimates are not given. This method is not restricte to this type of boundary conditions. (Author)
