THEORY, DESIGN AND CALIBRATION OF A NEW ULTRASONIC DENSITOMETER
Abstract
A new type of densitometer was constructed and is being assembled and calibrated. The measurement of the specific volume of liquids as a function of temperature and pressure utilizing ultrasonic techniques of sound speed measurement are disalibration, Meas urement, Theory, Liquids, Sound trans mission, Mathematical analysis, Ultrasonics, Design, Temperature, Pressure, *Detectors, *Acoustic impedance. The measurement of the specific volume of liquids as a function of temperature and pressure utilizing ultrasonic techniquecussed. Sound speed was measured to an accuracy of one partrement, Theory, Liquids, Sound trans mission, Mathematical analysis, Ultrasonics, Design, Temperature, Pressure, *Detectors, *Acoustic impedance. Open-ended Terms: Densitometer. A new type of densitometer was constructed and is being assembled and calibrated. The measurement of the specific volume of liquids as a function of temperature and pressure utilizing ultrasonic techniqueo 100 C and 14.7 to 15,000 psia, respectively. An analysis of the densitometer indicates an expected accuracy in specific volume measurements near one part in 10,000 over these same ranges of temperature and pressure. The general methods of calibrating this instrument are also reported. (Author)
