THE ISOTOPIC-EXCHANGE REACTIONS OF B2H6 WITH DT, HT, AND HD

Abstract

The isotope effects in the diborane-hydrogen exchange and in the pentaborane-diborane exchange reactions were studied using deuterium and tritium as tracers. In the former reaction an inverse isotope effect was observed, whereas in the latter a normal isotope effect was obtained. The effects are interpreted in terms of previously proposed mechanisms.
