NUTATION DAMPER. A SIMPLE TWO-BODY GYROSCOPIC SYSTEM

Abstract

The behavior of an assembly of two rigid bodies a device suggested as a nutation damper for observation satellites - is studied. For the present empirical approach, one of the bodies is chosen to be a thin rod, the other a thin disk; solutions of the equations are inspected for various values of the friction parameter.
