APPLICATION OF THE THEORY OF THERMODYNAMIC SIMILARITY TO DETERMINE THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF HOT METAL (MOLTEN METALS)

Abstract

The relationship between dimensionless viscosity and the dimensionless Lorentz function for molten metals, pertaining to one group of thermodynamic similarity is discussed. A comparison was made of results obtained in calculating the viscosity for a number of metals with experimental values. An example of calculating heat conduction is given. The revealance of groups of thermodynamically similar substances offers the possibility, without the aid of an experiment, to determine the physical properties of one of the substances singularly by similar characteristics under analogous conditions.
