Abstract

Actual and potential storm situations from September 1959 to May 1960 and the same period 1960 to 1961 were studied. A total of 80 forecast situations occurred during the two seasons. This study was made to test the reliability of objective forecast rules as stated in the Local Forecast Manual. All data were available to the forecaster at least three hours prior to the onset of strong gusty winds at Thule AB. (Author)
