ON TWO-STAGE SAMPLING PROCEDURES

Abstract

The possibility of solving a given statistical problem even when sampling is permitted to be in two stages is investigated. Two-stage procedures are considered from the point of view of general decision theory in order to reduce their plenitude, and simplify their structure, by means of such principals as sufficiency and invariance.
