LINEAR PROGRAMMING AND WORKPLACE ARRANGEMENT: SOLUTION OF ASSIGNMENT PROBLEMS BY THE PRODUCT TECHNIQUE

Abstract

The applicability of linear programming to assignment problems which arise in connection with work space arrangement is demonstrated. To solve problems of this nature, a method termed the product technique was developed. Compared with other linear programming techniques, the product technique has simplicity and direct relevance to problems in the human factors area. Several modifications of the technique are discussed. (Author)
