CAPACITOR DISCHARGE METAL FORMING

Abstract

A state-of-the-art survey indicates that several organizations have satisfactorily formed small tubular parts and dished sheet parts by capacitor discharge forming. Experiments to evaluate basic phenomena are required to determine optimum process for larger parts in typical aircraft and missile configurations. The power and energy levels to form such parts will require capacitor banks which are larger than those in present use. (Author)
