DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION OF METEOROLLOGICAL BALLOON, CAPABLE OF ASCENTS TO ALTITUDES IN EXCESS OF 120,000 FEET DURING THE DAY AND AT NIGHT

Abstract

A dual-purpose balloon capable of reaching altitudes of 120,000 ft 60% of the time and altitudes of 110,000 ft 80% of the time was successfully developed. The balloon performs equally well by day and by night. T HIS BALLOON WEIGHS IN THE ORDER OF !*)) GRAMS AND REQUIRES A TOTAL LIFT OF NOT MORE THAN $(%) GRAM , WHICH IS !))) GRAMS LESS LIFT THAN THE MAXIMUM SPECIFIED. It may be concluded, that the requirements were successfully accomplished. (Author)
