INFLUENCE OF CONSONANTS ON THE RECOGNITION OF THE VOWELS (U) AND (I). A STUDY OF INTERNATIONAL PRONUNCIATIONS FOR TWO AND THREE

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate a methodology proposed to solve the auditory confusion between the vowels (u) and (i). This methodology utilizes the different influences exerted by consonants on recognition of the adjacent vowel, and the effects of foreign dialect on these influences. It was hoped that the results would provide alternative pronunciations of superior intelligibility for the numbers TWO and THREE. (Author)
