INVESTIGATION OF FLOWING MERCURY ELECTRODES

Abstract

An apparatus was devised for maintaining a flowing mercury electrode. Q alitatively, the current-voltage curves obtained with this electrode correspond to those obtained with the dropping-mercury electrode. The large currents o tainable with this electrode should result in greater sensitivity than in the current-voltage curves obtained with this electrode appear to be associated withAN INCREASED RATE OF SURFACE FLOW O THE MERCURY, PRESU ABLY DUE TO A DECREASE IN THE SURFACE TENSION. This observation may have a bearing on the interpretation of the maxima obtaine with the dr pping mercury electrode. (Author)
