Some Methods of Fast-Wave Amplification in Parametric Electron-Beam Devices

Abstract

The amplification mechanism of two types of electron-beam parametric amplifiers is investigated. The first type is an electrostatically focusedamplifier; the second one is a space-charge wave amplifier which uses resonant cavities for fast-wave coupling. In both cases a small signal approximation is made and the only effects considered are those of the signal, idler and pump frequencies.
