AIRCRAFT CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY

Abstract

This book which includes parts 2, 3, and 4 catalogued as AD-260 682, AD-260 679 and AD-260 681, clarifies the main problems of the course, Aircraft Construction Technology, being studied in the aircraft institutes. The bases of aircraft production are presented which include: (1) the planning of technological processes; (2) the typical technological processes of manufacturing parts from sheets, profiles, drop forgings, and castings; and (3) the process of assembling units, sections, assemblies and the aircraft as a whole. A step-by-step discussion presents the basic concepts and features of aircraft construction, the setting up of technological processes depending upon the scales of production, and the methods and means of increasing labor productivity and reducing production costs. Considerable attention is diverted to examining the methods and means of assuring parts interchangeability, to problems of quality control, to principles of developing typical and operating technological processe of manufacturing parts and the assembly of products, as well as to methods of planning the technical equipment on the basis of standardized parts and elements.
