Abstract

A technique is developed for predicting spurious radiation from a transmitter to the electromagnetic environment lectromagnetic waves, Antennas, Soils, Radio transmitters, Radar transmitters, Urban areas, Radar receivers, Radio fields, *Electromagnetic fields, Electrical properties, Radar antennas, Interference, *Electromagnetic properties, Wave transmission, Tests, Radio interference, Radio receivers, Radio signals. A technique is developed for predicting spurious radiation from a transmitter to the electromagnetic environment at a distant station. Measurements of the voltages at the spurious frequencies, impressed by the transmitter on a quarter-wave antenna (tuned to the carrier), suffice to make it possible to calculate the voltages induced in a receiving antenna (tuned to the respective frequencies). The calculated voltages are directly dependent on the spurious voltages impressed on the transmitting antenna, directly proportional to the wave length of the spurious signals, and inversely proportional to the distance from transmitter to receiving station. Field tests were made which indicated that there was a correlation between the calculated values of voltages at the receiver and those actually observed by voltage measurements at the receiving antenna.
