THE NUCLEAR PROPERTIES OF RHENIUM

Abstract

Spectra from the decay of Re-186 and Re-187 agree generally with the decay schemes given in the literature In addition, the spectra showed three gamma quanta associated with the isomeric transition of Re-188. The energies of these gamma rays are 105, 92, and 64 Kev, and all have a half-life of 19 min. Disagreement about the fraction of 155 Kev gamma emitted per disintegration f Re-188 plus the large v lues obtained for theACTIVATION CROSS SECTION WHEN EITHER VALUE WAS USED INDICATE THAT THE DECAY SCHEME OF Re-188 is not adequately known.
