DEVELOPMENT OF TUNABLE C-BAND REACTANCE AMPLIFIERS

Abstract

Research is concerned with the design, development, and fabrication of tunable C-band reactance amplifiers that meet the following design goals: (1) tunable frequency range - 5250 to 5750 mc, (2) bandwidth - greater than 50 mc, (3 power gain - greater than 20 db, (4) noise figure - less than 4 db when operated at room temperature, (5) phase stability - less than 1 degree, and (6) gain stability - less than 0.1 db. A study was made to determine a simple means for tuning the amplifier and 3 possible solution are discussed. The effect of pump power and pump frequency variations on the gain and phase stability of the amplifier was investigated. (Author)
