STUDY ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF DEFECT METALLIC SURFACES OF SINGLE-CRYSTALS IN OXIDATION EXPERIMENTS UNDER CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE

Abstract

An investig tion was made of the chemical behaviour of cleavage surfaces of Bi single-crystals, an includes: (1) the conditions tha are mor ap to rev l by controlled oxidation, the distribution of point defects on surfaces of Bi single-cry ls; ( ) t e effects, tha oxidation, performed under X-rays expo ure or with O containing a small amount of O3 may h ve on th decoration proce ; (3) the effec s of a loc lized plastic deformation on the distribution an inte si y of the oxidation pattern ; (4) the decoration effec s on cleavage surfac s of Bi single crystals by conden ation of pure Zn; (5) th decoration effects superimposed on previously oxidized surf ce; and (6) the preliminary s udie on a controll d reduction process based on the use of oxide single-crystals.
