An Ebulliometer for Low-Molecular-Weight Polymers.

Abstract

The ebulliometer described in this report is a modified Menzies-Wright type which can be used to determine number-average molecular weights of polymers up to several thousand with reasonably good precision. The performance of the apparatus with a limited number of materials of known molecular weight is discussed. The results of the experimental runs show a reproducibility within +or-2% and comparable accuracy in the molecular weight range investigated from 178 to 595. (Author, modified-PL).
