VELOCITIES IN TWO-DIMENSIONAL ASYMMETRIC WAKES

Abstract

The fluid mechanics of asymmetric free mixing regions are investigated by an integral method analysis, with emphasis on non-similar behavior stemming from the form of the initial profiles. Velocity distributions are calculated and presented for a steady, laminar, compressible, twodimensional wake for various values of the inviscid velocity ratio u1/u2, where u is the axial velocity component evaluated at the outer edge of the viscous layer and 1 and 2 refer to the (x1,y) and (x2,y) coordinate systems, respectively.
