AN ENGINEERING ANALYSIS OF CARGO HANDLING-XI. A DETERMINISTIC MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR A TWO-LINK, ONE-NODE SYSTEM

Abstract

The greater part of this report concerns the steady-state productivity of a simple system consisting of two serial-handling operations. General relationships are developed from which one can predict the productivity of such a system from basic characteristics of the two carriers operating independent of system induced delay. These general relationships are developed for two cases. In the first case, the operator bases his actions entirely upon the present state of the system. In the second case, the operator, after some experience in the system, acts in anticipation of changes produced in the system by the other carrier. (Author)
