A THEORY OF RADAR REFLECTIONS FROM A STATISTICALLY ROUGH MOON

Abstract

The stochastic average of the power scattered by a statistically rough moon is derived for both continuous wave and short pulse transmission. In the latter case the pulse modulation of the incident fields is taken into account explicitly. The details of the echo shape during the early part of the return are made available as a consequence. The theoretical results are compared with two different experiments. (Author)
