EXPERIMENTAL AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL RADAR BEACON INTERROGATOR RECEIVING EQUIPMENT, FAA+BRD TYPE 40212(X-1)

Abstract

Engineering acceptance tests of the experimental interrogator, type 40212(X-1) were conducted to determine the technical adequacies of the equipment to meet Federal Aviation Agency specifications of increased angular resolution and sidelobe suppression techniques. An ANDB 2.3NS1B beacon interrogator was modified to provide increased angular resolution of responding aircraft on the plan position indicator display of the Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System. Flight tests conducted indicated that the feasibility of the center mark technique for increased angular accuracy could be useful in the beacon environment. (Author)
