MINI-BLOK MINIATURE RECTANGULAR METAL FILM RADIAL LEAD PRECISION RESISTOR

Abstract

Research concerns the further development of a high precision miniature radial lead metal film resistor. The particular configuration permits very dense packaging on printed circuit board assemblies. The resistor will be rated at 1/10 watt at 85 C ambient. The maximum volume will be 5 x 1/10,000 cubic inches. The resistance range will be from 100 to 200,000 ohms. The resistor will have a rectangular body with radial leads and will be adjustable by means other than spiralling. Alumina was selected as the most suitable substrate material. Samples were prepared in a somewhat larger size. Preliminary test data obtained on some of these parts indicate reasonable feasibility of the contract requirements. (Author)
