RADIO OBSERVATIONS AND RESULTS OF SPUTNIK 3

Abstract

A description is given of the instrumentation which was used in recording the radio waves transmitted from Sputnik 3 on the frequencies of 20 and 40 mc. Interesting results are presented which were obtained by analysis of the Doppler frequency shift and Faraday rotation in the observations for a period from January 1959 to April 1960. Furthermore, a discussion on the skip-zone is presented for the period when the satellite was below the height of maximum electron density. (Author)
