ON THE CONSERVATION LAW AND EXPRESSION FOR THE ENERGY DENSITY IN THE ELECTRODYNAMICS OF ABSORBING AND DISPERSING MEDIA

Abstract

The question is discussed of the energy conservation law in electrodynamics and the expression for the energy density in the case of anABSORBING DISPERSING MEDIUM. Phenomenological expressions are compared with the results obtained for a plasma when a kinetic equation is used and also a motion equation for a mechanical model with friction. The question of the rate of signal propagation in an absorbing medium is touched upon briefly. (Author)
