A BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEMS OF BOUNDARY LAYER RESEARCH

Abstract

The progress in the field of boundary layer research in recent years is briefly surveyed. The following items are treated to some extent: stability and transition, turbulent boundary layers, three-dimensional boundary layers, boundary layer control, and boundary layers in hypersonic flow. In the concluding section the unsolved boundary layer problems for incompressible flow are reviewed. (Author)
