TITANIUM ALLOY SHEET FLATTENING PROGRAM

Abstract

A pilot production model of heat treating equipment for solution treating and flattening titanium alloy sheet was successfully designed, constructed, and evaluated. This concept of flattening has been evaluated and its potential indicated by reducing out-of-flatness in some sheets from the 12 to 17% range to 1 to 2%. The results of this project indicate that this degree of flatness (1 to 2%) can be achieved on the DOD alloys, namely; C-120AV, 115AMoV, 105VA, and 6Mo-3Al. (Author)
