DEVELOPMENT OF DAMPING TREATMENTS FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION SUBMARINES

Abstract

A nitrile rubber treatment, the best developed to date for use on submarine light plating such as found in tanks and in the superstructure, is described. The treatment is given a conformance rating of 85% from the standpoint of damping efficiency over the frequency range of 100 to 6000 c and temperature range of 30 to 85 F. Additional tests are being performed to completely characterize the properties of the treatment. (Author)
