The equipment was designed to provide for pilot escape and survival from the Dyna-Soar glider. Preproduction tests were made of ejection seat and rail assemblies, rocket catapult and parachute assemblies, reserve and survival kits, and packaging for reliability, and for compliance with military specifications. Temperature and vibration and environmental tests were also made.
