STRESS WAVE PHENOMENA IN SEMI-SOLIDS

Abstract

The current program had as its objective the determination of the stress distribution at the boundary of several different discontinuities in a plate during passage of a stress pulse through the plate. In the previous research programs dynamic photoelasticity techniques and embedded grid techniques were developed for use in solving such problems. In the current program these technique were further refined, dynamic moire techniques were developed, and a number of specific problems were solved. (Author)
