MAGNESIUM AND CALCIUM IONS IN THE EARTH'S UPPER ATMOSPHERE

Abstract

Presented are the results obtained from the launching of a geophysical rocket in June 1960, using a radio-frequency mass spectrometer several times more sensitive than had previously been used in similar Russian experiments. More than 100 spectra were obtained at altitudes from 92 to 206 kilometers, ive of which had peaks with mass numbers M = 24 to M = 26. At an altitude of 103.5 kilometers a peak with M = 40 wa observed. (Author)
