FINITE BENDING OF PRESSURIZED CURVED TUBES WITH CIRCULAR CROSS SECTION

Abstract

A simple direct approach is described to the problem of determining stiffness and stresses for pure bending of curved tubes with circular cross section, with the effect of internal pressure included. The results include, as special cases, previously known results of the linear theory of bending of curved tubes, and also of the nonlinear theory of originally straight tubes. This analysis, which appears to be simpler than the previous work, is based on an appropriate use of results concerning the bending of pressurized circular rings. (Author)
