A NONLINEAR THERMOELASTICITY THEORY

Abstract

The study is an analysis of the temperature generated by the deviatoric components of strain. After a general formulation of this effect, a specific case of the torsional oscillations of a round bar is considered. The solution of this problem indicates appreciable temperature can be generated at strains which would be considered small in the field of plasticity. (Author)
