EXTENSIONAL WAVES ALONG THE EDGE OF AN ELASTIC PLATE

Abstract

A solution of second order equations of extensional motion of plates is obtained for waves travelling along a free edge. The usual Rayleigh-type wave is found to become more and more confined to the edge of the plate as the frequency increases. Above a certain frequency another edge wave is found. (Author)
